Antony Palackal, Professor in Sociology, University of Kerala,
Thiruvananthapuram. He did his post graduation from Delhi School of Economics and
obtained PhD from the University of Kerala. He was a Visiting Professor at Cleveland
State University, USA, and a Consultant to the Department of Sociology, University of
Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. Since January 2003, he is the India Coordinator of the World
Science Project, based in Louisiana State University, USA. His research works include,
the struggles and movements of dalits, adivasis and low end job Gulf Migrants in Kerala,
supported by the UGC, ICSSR and KILE (Government of Kerala). Currently he is
engaged in a research project on organic farming under the State Plan Fund, and psycho-
social effects of the Covid-19 on university students in Kerala and Canada, under Shastri
Indo-Canadian Project. Twelve books and more than 60 research articles and several
popular articles are to his credit. He has received ICSSR Senior Fellowship (2011),
FLAIR Award of Excellence from Higher Education, Government of Kerala (2015) and
Research Excellence Award from World Science Project, USA (2014) among others.
